Welcome to Caerthe!
The Barony of Caerthe is the Denver, Colorado chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit educational organization devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century Western culture. We concentrate on the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods of Europe; some members study the Middle East, Asia and other regions that had contact with Europe during this time. The members of the SCA take the best qualities of the time period and recreate them in the modern world.
The SCA is an international organization comprised of over 22,000 subscribing members. The world is divided into geographical regions called Kingdoms, ruled by Kings and Queens who are chosen through armored combat in Crown Tournaments. Caerthe is located in the Kingdom of the Outlands, which includes Wyoming, most of Colorado, New Mexico and the tip of Texas.
If you are new to the SCA in our area, here is some important information for you!
Depending on their size, local chapters within kingdoms are known as principalities, baronies, shires, cantons or colleges. The Barony of Caerthe is proud to include several such chapters within its borders: the Canton of Hawks Hollow (Northeast Denver), the College of Scola Metallorum, the College of Three Spires, the Canton of Readstan (Southwest Metro Denver) and the Incipient Canton of Ravenhyrst (East Denver).

The Caerthe Web Wants You!
It's not as scary as it sounds. The Caerthe Web Minister is in the process of developing a new People of Caerthe poral for this site to reflect the People of Caerthe. This will be catalogued in two different sections, "The Populace" and "The Peers of Caerthe".
First, the Populace Section will include listings in alphabetical order by SCA name each member of our populace. Each entry is hoped to include a headshot photo of the member, contact information (if you like), a brief bio/persona information (tell us about you mundanely and in persona), an image of your arms (if you have them registered) and any pertinent information you would like posted about yourself in the Populace section (your interests, what you teach, what you want to know more about, guilds you belong to, etc.) We are not requesting your mundane name though if you wish we will publish it as well. None of this information is mandatory.
Just as an added benefit to your fellow Caerthens, if you do send us your information, we hope (though this is absolutely not required) that you send along your membership number and possibly expiration date. This is very useful information in case someone uses this resource to write an award recommendation for you. This information makes it much easier for the Crown to do the approval process (they have to confirm you have membership)! Likewise, I will link your entry to the Outlands Roll of Arms so people can look at what awards you have already been given. This is all just an addition of convenience and totally unnecessary
The second section will be the Peers of Caerthe. We would like the same information as above with the addition of information about you as a peer. This can include areas of special knowledge, things you teach, what you require of students under your mentorship, and again, contact information.
I highly encourage even the most shy to participate in this roll of the populace. It helps us get to know each other (and learn how our names are really spelled), know who to turn to for help and instruction, and help new people to Caerthe to understand the make up of their new home. All Caerthens are a precious asset to the barony and we want to world to see you.
Please email your entries to the People of Caerthe to web@caerthe-sca.org
