Armory & Badges of Caerthe

The following are the armory and badges registered to the Barony of Caerthe. The majority of these may be used by the populace members. Each piece of armory lists the specific people that may use them. Please keep in mind that while arms are generally displayed on escutcheons (shield shapes) and the badges here are mostly on roundels (circles) armory and badges may be displayed on any shape.

The armory here has been divided into several sections for ease of reference.


Armory of the Court

Caerthe Arms
Blazon: Or, a laurel wreath vert and a chief embattled sable.
Use: These are the arms of the Barony, and as such, the arms of the Coronet. Only the Coronet or a herald acting on their behalf may wear these arms. These arms may be displayed at events by the general populace providing they follow two rules: 1) the Coronet must be in attendance at the event, 2) the arms are displayed in public areas only. e.g. a populace member may place a banner with these arms near the tourny field if the Baroness is on site, but cannot place the banner near their own personal tent.

Caerthe Ensign/Populace Badge
Blazon: Or, a triskelion of aspen leaves conjoined at the stems vert within a bordure embattled sable.
Use: This ensign of the Barony of Caerthe may be used by any member of the Barony. This can be displayed on banners, surcoats, shields, pennons, etc. While this badge is displayed round here, it can be any shape, and the bordure will follow the shape of the item it is on or the space that is used for display.

 

Baronial Guard
Blazon: Or, three towers in bend and a chief embattled sable.
Use: This badge may be used by the Baronial Guard. Members of the Guard may wear this badge or display this badge on regalia, such as tabbards, while fulfilling their duties as members of the guard. This badge may be displayed at events by the general populace providing they follow two rules: 1) the Coronet must be in attendance at the event, 2) the arms are displayed in public areas only.

 

Baronial Constable
Blazon: Or, a flanged mace bendwise vert and a bordure embattled sable.
Use: This badge may be used by the Baronial Constable and his designated deputies. The Constable, et.al., may wear this badge or place it on regalia associated with the office. The Constable may display a banner with this badge. This badge is reserved for the Constable and the general populace should NOT display this badge.

 

Baronial Bard
Blazon: Or, a lyre vert and a bordure embattled sable.
Use: This badge may be used by the Baronial Bard. This badge may be placed on regalia associated with the Baronial Bard, such as a mantle, chest, etc, and may be displayed by the current Bard on a banner.

 


Armory of the Guilds

The badges associated with guilds may be used by anyone within the barony to indicate an association with the guild. This may be display of banners, badges on clothing, or even using them as maker's marks.

Courtesan's Guild
Blazon: Argent, a butterfly bendwise, wings elevated and addorsed Or, perched on a garden rose slipped purpure.
Use: This badge is used by the Courtesan's Guild.

 

Courtesan's Guild
Blazon: Argent, a toad sejant affrontée vert, spotted and crowned Or, charged with a heart gules, fimbriated Or, within in annulo the inscription "Before you meet the handsome prince you have to kiss a lot of toads".
Use: This badge is used by the Courtesan's Guild.

 

Cooks Guild
Blazon: Or, a wingless dragon couchant reguardant, tail elevated and reflexed, vert, breathing flames of fire gules, suspended from the tail a cooking pot sable.
Use: This badge us used by members of the Cook's Guild.

 

Woodworker's Guild
Blazon: (Fieldless) On an aspen leaf Or a frame saw sable.
Use: This badge is used by the Woodworker's Guild.

 


Armory of the Orders of Caerthe

The badges associated with orders may be used by any member of the order. This may be display of banners, badges on clothing, etc.

Order of the Aspen of Caerthe
Blazon: Sable, on a sun throughout Or an aspen leaf vert.
Use: Awarded to those persons who have given outstanding service to the Barony. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)

Order of the Black Glove of Caerthe
Blazon: (In Submission) Or, a glove within a bordure embattled sable.
Use: Given for having exhibited a combined talent in all the following: the art of rattan fighting, the art of rapier fighting and in the arts and sciences. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)
Notes: The badge for this order is currently in submission.

 

Order of the Cordon of Honor
Blazon: No Badge has been registered for this Order
Use: Given for having exceptional service to the Coronet of Caerthe. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)
Notes: This order name has not yet been registered. There is no badge for this order yet.

 

Order of the Dreamer's Cup
Blazon: Per bend Or and vert, an aspen leaf and a goblet counter-changed.
Use: Given to those persons who, being at all times an example of chivalry, gentility, nobility and authenticity, are most exemplary in the conduct of themselves, to the greater credit and worth of Caerthe. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)

Order of Evan
Blazon: Or, a dragon passant gules and a chief embattled sable.
Use: Given for exceptional persona development. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)

Order of the Gilded Leaf of Caerthe
Blazon: Sable, an aspen leaf inverted Or.
Use: Awarded for excellence and contributions to the Barony in the area of the arts and sciences. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)

Order of the Keystone of Caerthe
Blazon: Sable, a keystone within a bordure embattled Or.
Use: Given for Twenty years of Service to the Barony (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)
Notes: This order name is in the process of being registered.

 

Order of the Sable Lion of Caerthe
Blazon: (Fieldless) Two swords crossed in saltire gules surmounted by a lion's head erased sable.
Use: Given to those individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the Martial Arts, giving freely of their expertise in the use and artistry of historical and traditional SCA-style weaponry. (Order Page) (Charter) (Members)

Blazon: (Fieldless) An aspen tree proper issuant from an egg fesswise fracted Or.
