This page is dedicated to online resources related to heraldy. This area will always be growing and changing, so I recommend visiting often!

General Resources

• SCA Heraldry Website - This site has tremendous resources for all kinds of heraldry, including education articles, and history of heraldry.
• Outlands College of Heralds - This is the main site for the Outlands' College of Heralds. There are all kinds of resources for heraldry including information relating to, submissions & the submission process, precedence within the Kingdom, a Book of Arms for the Kingdom, ceremonies, regalia, etc.

Book Heraldry

• Name Resources/Onomastics
  • The Academy of Saint Gabriel - This is a very good name resource, and they also have sections on period armory.
  • Some heraldic and onomastic books found for free online - This is a listing of various books available online that covers both onomastics and armory references. Many of these are on the non-photocopy list of Appendix H of the Administration Handbook, so it is worth knowing how to get there.
  • Oxford English Dictionary via Denver Public Library - This is an online version of the OED. The OED is mostly used for Order names, but could be useful for mottos or profession bynames. You need to have a Denver Public Library card to access the OED, but the card is free, so I would recommend getting one anyway - A card will also let you into things like the WorldCat which is great for research.
• Armory Resources
  • Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry - This an online copy of the book of the same name. This is a great resource for terms and blazons in heraldry.
  • Heraldic Graphics - This site is still getting on its feet, but will be a repository for graphics suitable for use in devices.
  • The Handbook to English Heraldry by Boutell - This is one of the standard primers on English heraldry.

  • Individual Name Submission Form - PDF Format - This form is used to submit a name for an individual
  • Device Submission Form (Escutcheon) - PDF Format - This form is used to submit a device designed on a shield.
  • Device Submission Form (Lozenge) - PDF Format - This form is used to submit a device designed on a lozenge.
  • Badge Submission Form (Standard) - PDF Format - This form is used to submit a normal badge with a field.
  • Badge Submission Form (Fieldless) - PDF Format - This form is used to submit a fieldless badge.

  • How to Make a Banner Stand for About $40 by Furukusu Masahide - This article shows you how to construct a banner stand.
  • (There Must Be) Fifty Ways to Use Your Arms by Coblaith Muimnech - This article compiles examples from period sources (paintings, carvings, etc) of different ways to display your armory.
