The Barony of Caerthe is the Denver, Colorado chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit educational organization devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century Western culture. We concentrate on the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods of Europe; some members study the Middle East, Asia and other regions that had contact with Europe during this time. The members of the SCA take the best qualities of the time period and recreate them in the modern world.

The SCA is an international organization comprised of over 30,000 subscribing members. The world is divided into geographical regions called Kingdoms, ruled by Kings and Queens who are chosen through armored combat in Crown Tournaments. Caerthe is located in the Kingdom of the Outlands, which includes Wyoming, most of Colorado, New Mexico and the tip of Texas.

If you are new to the SCA in our area, here is some important information for you!

Depending on their size, local chapters within kingdoms are known as principalities, baronies, shires, cantons or colleges. The Barony of Caerthe is proud to include several such chapters within its borders: the Canton of Hawks Hollow (Northeast Denver), the College of Scola Metallorum, the College of Three Spires, the Canton of Bloodstone (Southwest Metro Denver) and the Canton of Ravenhyrst (East Denver).
